Products
I am going to go over the acne products/chemicals that I think are most helpful in solving your acne problem. If you are not familiar with a name, that is probably because it is not a brand name acne fighter, but the active ingredient in multiple different products. I am going to leave it up to you to decide which actual product to try.

1. Benzoyl Peroxide - If your initial reaction was, "what is this, I have never heard of it, how is it number one?", don't worry, it is not some obscure chemical, it is a common solution for acne. Benzoyl peroxide is a peeling agent which means it works by cleaning out pores while acting as a antibacterial. In my opinion this is generally the best acne treatment. It is also popular and proven. If you don't believe me, just think about a Proactiv commercial you have seen. Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in all of proactiv's products. Also, acne.org's central plan centers around benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide usually comes in creams in a 2.5% dosage. 5% and 10% creams also exist, but 2.5% is what you want. It can and usually does cause some kind of dryness and irritation at first, but trust me, stick with it. The bottom line is benzoyl peroxide will definitely help if not completely fix mild to moderate acne. The main thing, which I have said over and over, is that you have to stick with it. If trying out benzoyl peroxide, use it once a day, usually in morning, for a couple of weeks at least.

2. Salicylic Acid- I am not going to talk to much about salicylic acid, and that is because it works very similarly to benzoyl peroxide, but is less potent, meaning if benzoyl peroxide bothers you that much, then you could use salicylic acid instead. Like benzoyl peroxde, salicylic acid will not be the name of a product at your pharmacy or grocery store. All products have some kind of name including acne, cleanser etc. Salicylic will be on the back under active ingredient. I have found that most acne creams in local stores will have salicylic acid as the active ingredient.
I know that this is a short list of acne products, but about 90% of over the counter acne products contain these ingredients, and that is because they work. I am going to continue the list with some different at-home techniques and some different ideas.

3. Toothpaste- I am definitely not saying that toothpaste is your cure for acne, but for people who just have a pimple or two, and want an overnight fix, it is great. The way putting toothpaste works is by drying out acne. Be warned that sometimes this can irritate your skin and cause redness. Bottom line, if you don't have any acne medication and want to get rid of a pimple, put some toothpaste on it when you are going to bed.

4. Exfoliation/Baking Soda- Exfoliation is the act of removing dead skin cells. This is usually accomplished by some kind of textured cream. The reason this helps acne is that dead skin cells can clog pores and also exfoliating will help in the recovering of your skin. The reason i put baking soda up exfoliation is because baking soda is the cheapest easiest exfoliator. For baking soda just mix baking soda with water until it is paste, then gently massage. There are tons of exfoliating products out there, so just find one and add it to your daily routine. http://sites.google.com/site/acnecenter/acne-solutions/products

The Causes of Acne and Feasible Treatment Options

The Causes of Acne and Feasible Treatment Options

Acne is a medical condition that can cause breakdowns and emotional turmoil, especially for the fairer sex. Well, I stand corrected - the condition induces pimples (that are painful) - but the psychological effects of Acne are more than ample to induce a breakdown! In the following lines, I will be illustrating the primary causes of acne, along with some feasible options for treating acne. You might have suffered from the same condition, or you might be searching the internet for more information regarding the same - whatever is the excuse, please read on!

A) The skin contains certain glands that are known to secrete a product called sebum. The sebum is noted for its manifold functionality - it is known to possess antiseptic properties, it cleans the pores of the skin, and it also maintains the oiliness of the skin. During puberty, the amount of sebum that is produced by these glands might increase. The sebum when acts in conjunction with the dirt that is present on the pores of the skin might induce the pimples. Pimples are known to occur in every part of the body - but they are predominantly found in the face.

B) We now know how the pimples are caused on the body. I will be listing out certain remedial measures for acne. Acne can be treated with the aid of synthetic creams or naturally (without using any type of skin creams). The skin creams are known to contain agents that will penetrate into the deeper levels of the skin and clean the pores of the skin. Dirt and sebum accumulation will lead to pimple formation. When dirt is taken out of the equation, everything will return to normalcy. Certain skin creams are known to contain special chemicals that will control the generation of sebum.

C) The best natural way to treat acne is to keep the face clean. Wash the face every two to three hours with warm water and a mild antiseptic soap. Keep on repeating the same for days until the pimples recede from the face. By washing the face, you are washing away the dirt accumulated on the skin, along with the excess sebum. I do realize that acne can be painful for some of us. There is no easy way out of the paradigm. Something that is considered very important concerning acne will be discussed in the following section.

D) The pain that is inherently present on the pimples will prompt people to break the pimples. This might initially seem like an easy way out. When the pus that is present within the pimples flows out, acne heals faster. Any disadvantages? Yes - you are inducing lifelong scars on your face. These scars are permanent and you will have to resort to the aid of cosmetic surgeries to get it removed at a later date. People usually resort to break the pimples without even realizing the damage that is being incurred in the process. Do keep us posted about your experiences!

Acne Treatment

Acne Treatment

Many people think that eating your typical junk foods cause acne. This is not the case and most acne is caused through hormones and it is also hereditary. Finding a good acne treatment is a great idea but we can help this condition with improving our diets. Eating a fattening greasy burger probably wont make a huge difference to our skin, but if we eat more fruit and vegetables and other foods that can keep your hormones in balance as well as fight inflammation, this will definitely help.
